Volunteering is the most important feature of the tip, so of course you don’t have to “tip”. Our employees are paid fairly. However, if you are satisfied with the massage, afterwards it is a normal and nice gesture to give a tip to the masseuse.
It is good to know that Thai masseuses leave their home, their family, and their children to work abroad. Their parents are living in the poorer regions of Thailand, with no pension, so masseuses usually must support their parents and the children raised by their grandparents. Their salary is known by the family, and the masseuses must send the whole salary home; their living here is covered by the tip. The masseuses are very grateful to those who make their absence and daily life easier.
